Build your workflow
You do not have to build a PacedLoop workflow by hand. Describe your process to our free Workflow Builder GPT and it produces an import-ready workflow file, formatted correctly, in a few minutes. This page covers the ways to build, and walks through the fastest one.
Four ways to build
Pick the path that fits how you like to work. They all end in the same place: a structured workflow running behind a Custom GPT.
- Done for youBeta
- Send the PDF, questionnaire, or framework you already use. During beta we map it into a workflow and build the Custom GPT for you, then hand back a live link. Best when you want zero setup.
- The Workflow Builder GPTRecommended
- Describe your process to a free Custom GPT. It asks a few clarifying questions, drafts an outline for your approval, then produces import-ready workflow JSON. No code, no terminal. Best for building it yourself without technical tools.
- Your coding agent, via MCP
- Point Codex or Claude Code at the same builder through the PacedLoop MCP server. The agent runs the workflow and produces the JSON for you. Best if you already work inside an AI coding tool.
- The editor, by hand
- Open the workflow editor and write each step yourself in Easy or Raw mode, with full control over goals, assignments, and access rules. Best for precise edits and total control.
The Workflow Builder GPT, step by step
The fastest self-serve path is to let the GPT do the building. You describe what you want in plain language, and it returns a file you import.
Describe › Workflow Builder GPT › JSON › Import › Live workflow
- Open the Workflow Builder GPT.
It runs on the free ChatGPT tier. Nothing to install.
- Describe your framework.
Share your outline, methodology, or the document you already hand clients. The GPT asks a few clarifying questions and proposes a step-by-step outline for you to approve.
- Get import-ready JSON.
Once you approve the outline, the GPT produces a PacedLoop workflow file with every field formatted the way PacedLoop expects.
- Import it into PacedLoop.
In your workspace, open New Workflow and choose Import workflow JSON. The name, steps, goals, and access rules populate automatically. Review and edit anything before you create it.
- Connect it to a Custom GPT.
Create the Custom GPT your clients will use and point it at the workflow. That is the whole loop: describe, import, launch.
Try the Workflow Builder GPT
It is free and open to anyone. You will need a PacedLoop account to import and run what it builds, which is free during beta.
Why hand it to the AI
Building a workflow by hand means getting every field and structure right: the goal for each step, what the user is asked to provide, what gets saved, and the access rules. The AI is good at exactly that. It sets those up in the shape PacedLoop expects, so you can focus on your process instead of the format.
Whichever path you choose, you stay in control. Imported workflows open in the editor for review, and nothing goes live until you create it. For the thinking behind how to structure a workflow, see the workflow patterns. For how the running system fits together, see how PacedLoop works.
